What They’re Thinking
They want fun, they’re active and they’re all about trying new things. BUT, they still like the foods they’re familiar with. Foodservice Directors need to deliver the high-quality nutrition a kid’s body needs, but it has to taste great and be fun! Even at this young age, there is an awareness of making good food choices and an understanding of eating better foods.
What They Like
Finger foods are big with this age group. Anything that’s dippable is a big plus—and that doesn’t just mean ketchup. Think honey mustard, ranch, barbecue and more. Smaller people call for smaller portions, too. There’s no such thing as “one size fits all” in portion sizes.
What That Means to You
Young kids are less familiar with seafood and may have preconceived notions about eating seafood in general. Fish sticks, nuggets and strips are what they're used to when it comes to seafood. Breading styles and shapes go a long way to helping these young kids accept and enjoy their seafood experience. FPI's line offers both the nutrition and the flavor and appearance that young kids desire.
